Rare Walking Stick Bug “Tree Lobsters” ready for repopulation

These have been thought extinct for years after they were killed off by rats that overtook Lord Howe Island in the 1800’s.   Locals called them “tree lobster” because the were massive.     But a nest of 24 were found on a prudential looking rock, so they bred some more.    Have a look at the researcher’s funky eyebrows too.
